The Origins Of PATRICKTHOMAŚ

Every PATRICKTHOMAŚ garment holds a special place in my heart and resides deep in my mind. I have always struggled to portray my deepest feelings and emotions, and constantly felt dissatisfied with the ways I chose to express them. Having struggled with severe depression and anxiety throughout my early teen and adult years, I wanted all the artwork, imagery and poetry that has been manufactured through PATRICKTHOMAŚ to reflect on these moments in my life. 

Prior to this, I was working long days and nights in jobs where I was unfulfilled, emotionally. My mind was constantly scouring ways to express myself, eventually I worked out my way of expression was through design and this is from where PATRICKTHOMAŚ was born. 

PATRICKTHOMAŚ encompasses the feelings and emotions that one experiences through relationships, friendships, love and longing for more. Emotions that reside with feeling like you’re not enough for someone. The feelings that you are not worthy of living the life you’re truly destined to live. 18-26 are the years when I personally started to discover and understand myself. A stage where I was unsure who I wanted to be and someone who felt like they didn’t belong. These years are the most important ones of your life, they shape you as a person and are ones that I struggled with the most. 

Love is a vital theme in PATRICKTHOMAŚ. What it means to be loved and what it means to be infatuated alongside the yearning, searching and the fondness involved with love. Many of the garments refer to the issue of Toxic Masculinity, hiding your true feelings and repressing emotions to minimise the risk of looking sensitive in front of others. It has taken me years to realise that it's okay to release your emotions, to cry, to feel sad, and to be sensitive towards yourself and others. 

My label and garments for me, are far more than just clothing. I hope they are for you too.
